Adrian José Flores is a movement directing extraordinaire based in Austin, Texas. With a Bachelors Degree in Radio/Television/Film from the University of Texas at Austin, he marriages his passion for music and dance by creating films that reflect the culture and climate of today’s world.
Inspired by the showmanship of Michael Jackson, Missy Elliot, and Beyoncé, AJ Flores collaborates with local musicians/artists on their live shows and music videos with works being displayed on major stages such as ACL Music Festival and SXSW.
During his 24-Hour Lock-In residency AJ did pre-production for his next movement visual, highlighting the Latino culture pre and post-colonization. He stayed and worked in the Unlisted Projects renovated trailer and the Museum of Human Achievement.
“This project is to be created with an all Latino crew and cast to fill in roles tailored to their skill sets and gifts. My vision for the music of this film is for it to take chronological journey from the music of my ancestors to the music we hear today at the club. My intention is to create a project that represents who I am, a Mestizo (Spanish/Mexican), with dance being the forefront of this journey.”-AJ
